Chilli
This is my panel painting. I placed the Chilli in three various positions and painted the different panels over a few days. I chose this subject not only because I like chillis but also because it has a vibrant colour. The panels could be placed side by side both horizontally and vertically
This is a close up of one of the panels. The shadow created by the chilli on the plate gives the painting a 3-D effect. I love the yellow colour in the background, which contrasts with the blue colour of the plate.

My Friend's Dream House
*This is an unfinished picture of the painting*
This a portrait of my friend's dream house. She gave me a picture of it and I painted it for her. I did make a few slight changes to the colour and composition of it because I thought it would look better that way. The fence in the picture frames the house beautifully. In the finished piece, I added more white to the fence so that it would contrast with the colour of the house.
From the outside it looks empty however inside there may be lots of stories unfolding.
I like the way that the light and shadows fall on the house, it gives it a more realistic feel. Thankfully, my friend says that she loves the painting :)

Empty Road
This painting was painted in a slightly different way to my usually style, to create the effect I 'stabbed' the canvas with the point of my brush.
I painted it because the picture had a very strong composition, which I liked. It's a long driveway and the falling leaves are just changing colours to varying autumn colours - the end of summer and the beginning of autumn.
The vanishing point lies to the left hand side of the painting - what is beyond that point, I do not know.

Over the water
Life is a journey, and this bridge is inviting you to explore and discover something new. Cross of the water and wash away your past - experience the new life that waits beyond the trees. There is hope behind the trees and no burden of past memories.
The tranquility of the green scenery makes me feel relaxed.
I'd like to stand on the bridge and look down into the water, to see my reflection. But water has no colour, it only reflects its scenery.
Painting is a calming hobby of mine and I would encourage people to have a go - you might be surprised at what you can do. And don't give up if people tell you that art is pointless. If you are enjoying yourself, go for it! Capturing the beauty of the Universe is difficult - whether you are a painter, a photographer or an abstract artist - the fact that you are trying speaks for itself.

Sunset
This is acrylic on canvas. The main colours used are: greyish blues, yellows, oranges, browns and blacks. I also used white for highlighting.
I included a perspective on this picture, and I think I have been successful in capturing the perspective - it makes me want to sit at the end of the pier! I was inspired by a picture i found in a photography book (black and white) and modified it to make it my own by adding some colour.
The sea is another one of my favourite subjects to paint - I love the sound of the water crashing against the rocks and the image of the sun setting in the background. It makes me feel at peace. It signifies the end of one day and the start of another day, another (another painting :) ).
This is currently my daughters favourite piece.

First Post!
So, this is the first floral piece I wanted to share.
I was sitting around at home one day when all my children where at school - when all of a sudden, an idea popped into my head. I wanted to paint some poppies. I love poppies, they are my my favourite flower (although my favourite flower changes weekly).
To start, I drew the outline of the poppies from a picture I saw in a book with a pencil. I then used a water-wash (with acrylic) to give myself an idea of the basic colours that I would use. I then gradually built up the colour an the canvas - the main colours I used were orange, red, green and black. I painted the poppies first, and completed the background later. Finally I added the shadows and highlight to the painting to make it look more realistic and less 2-dimensional.
I loved painting this because it involved using green, my favourite colour!
Please comment if you like this painting and feel free to criticize.
